Why Travel?

One answer could be the same as that given by a Boston lady of an old New England family who was asked why she never traveled. “Why should I?” she replied. “I’m already there!”

—Daniel Boorstin, The Discoverers

I travel to explore the world, because everything unseen is new, and we learn and grow from the new, but it’s also a search for paradise, which must exist because I’ve actually already been there. It was a temporary stay and it had to end after just a few months of conversation and laughter, but I hope that I can find it again one day. Once I do, I’ll probably never leave—just like this lucky lady in Boston.
