Because the economy sucks, learn what you love…

Since it has become obvious that it is more or less impossible to get a good job without good connections, and since it is likely that most jobs can be learned by someone who has no knowledge of the given trade within a matter of months, people should no longer go to school for the purpose of acquiring a job: dishwashing is performed by high school dropouts and Ph. D’s alike, and seems to be one of the few options available to those of us who are not fortunate enough to possess sufficiently nepotistic relatives with real monetary clout. So instead, everyone should just go to school for what they love. Don’t bother with learning a trade, because you aren’t going to find a job once you’re finished—dive into film, paint, devour ten years writing and reading terrible poetry, make robots, talk about books. Because the economy sucks, learn what you love.
